PREMISE:
In the midst of whatever your character was doing, they suddenly feel dizzy. Whether they sit down or stand, they will suddenly pass out. Within their unconsciousness, they will have a dream of a very interesting man appearing to them, carrying them to somewhere new. They’re far too interested to deny the process.
When they awaken, they’re in their brand new dressing room. (see Settings). Characters arrive with whatever was on their person on the time. A pet may also be present! If said character, items, or pet had powers, they have now been nerfed, or at least limited in such a way that they are now ridiculous.
They are also given a small tablet that lets them look up character profiles and vote. It has an intuitive interface and will not break easily, even for the kind of person who loves spilling things and dropping electronics on the floor. Should a character manage to break or lose their tablet, however, a replacement will be provided in their dressing room. You can also borrow another character's tablet! It will automatically log into the account of whoever's holding it and not give away a vote to anyone else.
As they get their bearings, a voice recording will explain:
1. The basic premise of the game
2. What prizes they stand to win
3. The fact that they are not to speak of their prize to anyone, and in fact if they try to do it nothing will come out of their mouth.
4. The mechanics.
SETTING
You’re on a boat, you’re on a boat, you’re sailing on a motherfucking boat.
It’s not a tv show this time. You are performing for an audience, but they’re behind the scenes, watching the camera feeds from the elite upper deck of the boat. When executions happen, they are overseeing the area from theatre-like seating, masked and chattering.
The main deck is where everything happens. It is sectioned out into the following areas:
A nightclub area. It has a bar: it’s stocked extremely well, with anything you can possibly think of. Connected to the bar is a stage area and a dance floor.
There’s a casino room, with many machines and multiple card game tables. Oh, and don’t miss out on the roulette or craps!
A restaurant, which has the very basics of food. They didn’t put as much effort into the food as they did into the drink.
A pool area. The water is never cleaned by the staff, but you can risk it if you want. There’s many deck chairs surrounding the pool. If someone wants to be nice and clean the pool themselves, the stuff is there in a room to the side.
Planetarium/movie theatre - yes, you can view the stars. They’re fake stars, but you can still view them. This is hoping you don’t mind the recording that never shuts up about trying to teach you about the galaxy. The only way to get it to be quiet is to switch a movie on - then you’ve got blessed silence, except for one of the always horrible movies that are on stock.
Library - a large area full of books. The books come from all the various canons that are here on the ship. So you might find something from home, but you may also find something from say, Fire Emblem: 3 Houses. It just all depends one who’s here.
The suite deck is below the main deck and where everyone’s ‘dressing rooms’ are. Instead of a dressing room, each participant gets a small suite. It’s a small room that is decorated uniquely to each person.
The ‘hotel’ is the lowest deck, where the crew of a boat usually stays. Their rooms are even smaller, matchstick size. The beds are not great. There is an engine room down here, but playing with the controls leads you nowhere.
The execution area is the top deck, open to the air. There’s stands of seating circling around, with a small exit that leads towards the water. Everyone reports for the results. Only some people leave.
WHAT IS A HOTEL?
This is where people who aren’t eligible to play anymore are sent. They interact with each other for the most part, but can also interact with the player base in certain ways that will be revealed later.
WHERE DO THE DEAD GO?
They stay in the execution area as ghosts. Yes, this means they can comment on executions. They also have their own post for playing with each other.
POINTS MECHANICS:
At the beginning of every round, every contestant is allocated 25 points to spend in various ways. The amount of points they have left will never be advertised at any time for them, this is information they can choose to release on their own.
BIDDING MECHANICS:
At the beginning of each minigame, each contestant can choose to bid on minigame performance results. You can bid on yourself or someone else performing well.
They draw this bid from the 25 points. You can bid up to five points total per week.
If you have a successful bid, you double the points placed down.
If you lose your bid, you lose the points.
You do not have to do this!
TURN-IN MECHANICS:
At the end of every minigame, you post your results, as well as how many points you want to boost your vote earn with. How the points translate to game results will be determined with each minigame. For example, if there was a lying game played:
+1 score: Telling the truth
+3 score: Fooling others
+3 score: 1 Point Boost
You are allowed to play up to ten points per round.
VOTE MECHANICS:
Through a combination of game score and points gained through bidding, you earn votes to spend.
*Whoever is voted for the most is killed.
*Whoever gets the second most votes is sent to the hotel.
*Zero votes means nothing happens.
You’re not required to use all your votes each week, since votes are used in more ways than just kill or be killed. But you must spend at least one. If you try to use all your votes in ways other than voting, you will be denied. If you try again, you will be punished.
COMMUNITY POOL MECHANICS:
Every week, you can choose to donate votes into the community pool. You do not keep these votes. The community pool builds towards 50 votes and every time it hits 50, we have a week where nobody dies.
You can only convert until you reach one vote. You must keep at least one vote at all times.
SCOREBOARD MECHANICS:
The scoreboard keeps track of how many votes you’ve earned in total. The first person to reach the ‘golden number’ can choose a willing person to come back from the hotel. This can only happen once.
For specific milestones, you can choose to earn things from the store.
STORE MECHANICS:
There is a small store full of various things. Though it does not contain highly useful things such as the passes, it contains:
*Accessories: Every 5 points
*Smaller useful things such as aspirin. Every 10 points
*Roulette Item: Every 25 points
The roulette item is very important. When a character signs up, they put down a non weapon item of any kind from their canon. This item is acquired by the mascots and added to a pool. If this item had magical properties, it is nerfed. When someone buys the roulette item, they are given one randomized item from this pool.
You or the person you bought it for is required to wear your accessory for one full IC day.
HOTEL PASS MECHANICS:
This will be introduced halfway through as per usual. This is biddable on per mayhem, not per points. How mayhems work:
MAYHEM MECHANICS:
Every week, a post will be made with screened comments on Tuesday. You write a proposal to try to get a hotel pass of something you’re willing to do to everyone else. It can be horrible (examples from the past have included poisoning the alcohol) or interesting (another example includes setting up a glitterbomb). The person chosen will be notified by Friday. If you’re not notified, you didn’t get it.
MURDER MECHANICS
So your character wants to try and get someone killed without any of those pesky rules and votes getting in the way? Yeah. You can do that. But it's gonna cost you-and, well, this is a casino. ICly, it will cost your character
50 points, and your character will need to speak (privately, of course) to one of the mascots. Then, the
Roulette of Doom will be set up for your character and their intended victim, where they will will stand behind a curtain until the results are revealed. Why a roulette? Well... OoCly, the player of your intended victim will be informed that someone wants them dead. If they agree to it, then the roulette will land on their color, their curtain will rise, and the mascot charged with killing them will go through with the deed, with characters ICly none the wiser to your character's shenanigans. However, if they refuse, the roulette will land on your character's color, and, yup, you'll be revealed, your character will be the one killed and your intended victim will receive 25 points for surviving! After all, no big gamble is without its risks. Surely your character accepted that when they decided to try and get someone killed so overtly! And no, your character won't be getting their points back. Your character will be dead. Oh, and did we mention other players will get to bet on the outcome? Because of course they will. Gambling's awesome!
